Damn It.

Not long ago I wrote a complaint post about The Elder Scrolls Online. I have had an on and off love affair for over 10 years with the game now. Having played so long, there are areas I have explored every inch of, and yet somehow there remains a lot still that I have not seen. That last part has allure that always keeps me in the loop of what is going on with the game. I may complain about Crown Crates and animation canceling, but I haven’t put over a thousand hours into the game because I hate it. In my eyes, The Elder Scrolls Online is a fantastic game that sometimes gets in its own way.

There is no doubt that content is winding down a little compared to the old release schedule. My guess is this is part of more and more resources being diverted to the companies other secret MMO. That is why I was so surprised to learn about the upcoming subclassing and a sort-of-answer to the long wanted furnishing storage issue. I am also having a gripe constructive criticism from my last post answered, they plan to add a way for people to voluntarily make overworld content more difficult. Most importantly of all though, as a strictly argonian player, it looks like half of the new zone is going to be argonian heavy. Damn it, ya got me.

ESO is reinstalled, my addons are all up to date, and my plans for the future include checking out what this content looks like. However, I am not going to buy the new “Content Pass” just yet. My plan is to keep playing some of the adventures I already have, that I haven’t yet completed, and to watch.

However, I also have a lot of other gaming wishes but not a large desire to game a lot this year. I will see how that shakes out, as I am passionate about experiencing new (to me) things.

On my list right now for consideration includes but is not limited to:

  • Marble It Up
  • Baldurs Gate 3. More of.
  • Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4. I’ve played these but not much of any of their DLC. I’m unsure if I finished 4, I don’t think so.
  • Spyro Reignited Trilogy. I don’t really plan to beat this, and I don’t think I will. I just want to play it a bit until it stops being fun. I think there is too much game here for me to likely actually beat it.
  • PsychoNauts 1 and 2. I beat most of the 1st but life got in my way many moons ago. I am probably most excited about this one.
  • Disco Elysium. I’ve wanted to play this a good while, but there was nasty legal stuff going on with it and I didn’t want to give the owners money. However, I got it out of a Humble Bundle and dragged that slider all to charity to feel okay.
  • The Expanse A Telltale Series
  • FlyKnight. I got my buddy a copy and myself, and it is only a few hours long.
  • Gauntlet (2014). A classic. I got my friends Realeo and Scotsman as well.
  • Golf Gang
  • In Sound Mind
  • The Flame in the Flood
  • Isle of Jura
  • Mad Max
  • Mass Effect Legendary. This one is daunting but I loved the original on the Xbox 360. I remember it was a very horny game though.
  • Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2
  • Portal Knights. I want to try this with Realeo. I got us both copies.
  • Post Mouse. A cute free game.
  • Ticket to Ride. I own the board game but haven’t gotten to play in like two years, so this will quickly refresh me on how to play.
  • Tomb Raider. Maybe. I’ve seen a friend play. I know the game takes a lot of pride in having branches impale Laura, and that isn’t my thing.
  • The Shore. Eldritch vibes.
  • Fayburrow. Cozy BAFTA winner. Also, free.

So what I am saying is, I will probably play like a handful of these by the time the year is over. I guess I should be grateful that I have so many options. I’ll see where The Elder Scrolls Online fits into this. I fee like ESO is my anti-new game. I am so familiar with it that new things are nice, but they usually do not catch me off guard. It is the familiarity that makes it cozy to me.
